Without proper versioning every change in software increases the risk of a total failure. Keeping track of changes is the most important job of software developers. This 2-day workshop focuses on creating small, cohesive changes. It introduces different strategies of version control, like distributed version management. By default the workshop teaches git, but it can be customized towards Mercurial (Hg) or other VCS's.

Topics in this 2-day workshop are:

  • Getting git (can be customized to use Hg, or some another VCS's)
  • Changesets and collaboration
  • branching, merging, rebasing

Iwein Fuld

Iwein Fuld is a committer on Spring Integration and co-author of the book Spring Integration in Action. http://www.manning.com/fisher/. He has spoken on various conferences on topics relating to Spring Integration, Cloud Computing and OSGi. Iwein specializes in eXtreme Programming practices and is appreciated for his Pair Programming skills.

After working as a trainer at SpringSource, Iwein found the ideal mix of hard core development, Agile and off shoring when he joined Xebia. Iwein is the co lead of the Craftsmanship initiative within Xebia and is experimenting with new ways of training in the form of Peer Instruction workshops.
